Does Sonic Have a Senior Discount? 24 Restaurants and Stores That Do

See which restaurants and stores publish an age, day, or membership rule, and which travel services have no senior offer, before you reach the register.

By Linda Cho, CFP®, Money Editor
Updated · 15 min read

The short answer: Sonic has no published company-wide senior discount. Its prices vary by drive-in, so check the exact location for a local offer. Ross publishes 10% off for shoppers 55 and older on Tuesdays. IHOP and Denny’s have separate 55+ menus. Denny’s also gives AARP members 15% off at participating locations through a different, membership-based offer.

The car ahead pulls away. You’re holding your card, the cashier is waiting, and this is a poor moment to test a “senior discount” from an old social media post.

A posted rule makes checkout easy. A chain with no posted rule calls for a check before you leave home. For some places below, the age and day are clear.

For others, there is no national age or discount day to give you. The travel services and memberships here deserve the same scrutiny: a useful offer isn’t always a senior discount.

24Sonic Drive-In senior discount by location

24 of 24

If you’re wondering whether Sonic has a senior discount, there’s no published national offer to count on. Sonic’s FAQ says menu prices vary by drive-in. Sonic’s 2017 press materials say more than 90% of its locations were locally owned and operated.

Picture the speaker after you’ve already settled on lunch. That’s an awkward place to test a claim from an old post.

Check with that drive-in beforehand: “Does this location have a local senior offer?” If staff say yes, ask for the age, day, and ordering rules. If they say no, you can order without waiting for a discount that was never promised.

23Denny’s 15% AARP member discount

23 of 24

The qualification matters here: AARP membership, not age alone. Denny’s says members receive 15% off dine-in and pickup orders at participating locations. The maximum discount is $10.

That cap matters before a group meal. Don’t assume each diner gets a separate reduction. Check whether your restaurant participates and read the offer terms before ordering. Have your membership information ready when you pay.

There’s no special weekday in the published AARP offer. If you don’t belong to AARP, Denny’s has another choice worth looking at before you order.

22Denny’s national 55+ menu

22 of 24

A smaller meal can be a better deal than a percentage off a plate you didn’t want. Denny’s 55+ menu is designed for guests 55 and older, with smaller portions and lower-priced items.

This is a menu choice, not a promise that your entire bill drops by a set percentage. Look for the 55+ section before you choose an entrée. Then compare it with the regular meal you actually want.

You don’t need to plan around a published senior weekday for this menu. It is separate from Denny’s AARP member offer. Check the restaurant’s current terms rather than assuming the two combine.

21Dunkin’ senior discount status

21 of 24

Does Dunkin have a senior discount? Dunkin does not publish a national age-based offer on its Rewards page. There’s no company-wide senior age, percentage, or day to cite at the counter.

If you’ve heard about a deal at one shop, check with that shop beforehand to see whether a local exception exists. Otherwise, the published savings route is Rewards. It’s tied to qualifying purchases, not your birthday.

That distinction saves you a question at the pickup counter. You can decide whether the points are worth collecting before you order your coffee.

20Dunkin’ Rewards points on qualifying purchases

20 of 24

10 points per $1 is the basic earning rate on qualifying purchases under Dunkin’s Rewards terms. Points go toward choices in the app’s redemption catalog. They don’t take a set percentage off the coffee in your hand.

After 12 visits in a month, Boosted Status earns 12 points per $1 for the next three months. You don’t have to reach that status to use the basic program.

Before joining for a regular stop, check whether that store participates. Dunkin says not all do. Then look at the redemption choices. If none is something you’d order, a growing points balance won’t improve the bill you came to pay.

19LongHorn Steakhouse senior discount status

19 of 24

Someone at the table has heard LongHorn gives a senior discount. The check hasn’t arrived, but you’d rather know before ordering.

LongHorn’s official FAQ does not state a chain-wide senior discount. It supplies no national qualifying age or discount day, either.

If you want to check for a local exception, contact the particular restaurant before the meal. Ask whether that location has a current offer, then get the age, eligible day, and proof needed. If staff don’t confirm one, order without expecting an adjustment when the check lands.

18Outback Steakhouse 10% AARP discount

18 of 24

At Outback, the published benefit belongs to AARP members. AARP lists 10% off food and nonalcoholic beverages for dine-in and some carryout orders.

Notice what the offer names. It covers food and nonalcoholic drinks, rather than promising a reduction on every receipt charge. For carryout, check the current redemption instructions and participation before placing the order.

You need membership details for this offer, not proof that you’ve reached a particular senior age. No special senior weekday is listed. Decide whether the covered items suit your plans, then use the published member benefit.

17Carrabba’s Italian Grill AARP discount

17 of 24

The plans are made. You’ve picked Carrabba’s, invited someone along, and started thinking about dinner. One detail is worth settling before you leave: whether that restaurant participates.

AARP lists 10% off food and nonalcoholic beverages for members, but notes that member offers aren’t available at every location. “Do you participate in the AARP dining offer?” names a real benefit. A broad question about senior discounts doesn’t.

If the restaurant participates, check how to show your membership and when to mention it. The cited offer names no fixed senior discount day. A participation check keeps dinner from hinging on a benefit that another Carrabba’s honors but this one doesn’t.

16Bonefish Grill 10% AARP discount

16 of 24

The Bonefish Grill offer is 10% off food and nonalcoholic beverages for AARP members. Keep your membership details handy. A driver’s license alone doesn’t establish eligibility for this member benefit.

Read the current redemption terms before ordering. No national senior weekday is stated.

If you’re choosing among Bonefish, Carrabba’s, and Outback, their listed AARP percentages match. Pick the meal you want, then verify the location and covered items. That’s more useful than choosing by a vague promise of “senior savings.”

15IHOP national 55+ menu

15 of 24

IHOP’s answer is printed in the menu name. Its 55+ Menu is for guests 55 and older and lists value-priced meals. It is a separate menu, not a percentage taken off any dish you pick.

Open the menu for your chosen restaurant before you leave. IHOP shows prices by location, so a price seen for another restaurant won’t settle what your breakfast costs. Compare a 55+ choice with the regular item you actually want.

You don’t need AARP membership to qualify for the menu, and the cited national menu doesn’t name a special weekday. Ask for the 55+ menu by name. There’s no need to negotiate a discount.

14Marshalls senior discount status

14 of 24

Does Marshalls offer a senior discount? No reliable source confirms a national one. On its coupon codes page, Marshalls says it generally doesn’t offer coupons or sales. It emphasizes everyday low prices instead.

That gives you no published senior age or weekday for checkout. If you heard about a deal at one Marshalls, check with that store beforehand to see whether it has a local exception.

Otherwise, judge the price on the tag. If Tuesday works for your shopping trip, the next retailer has a written age, day, and percentage to work with.

13Ross 55+ Tuesday discount day

13 of 24

What day does Ross have its senior discount? Tuesday. Ross calls it the 55+ Tuesday Discount: shoppers 55 or older receive 10% off purchases made that day.

That gives you a plan instead of a rumor. Choose Tuesday, check that you meet the age rule, and tell the associate at the time of purchase. Ross says it can request ID to verify age or date of birth.

Don’t carry the Tuesday rule over to another retailer. It belongs to Ross. On another day, Ross’s published rule gives you no basis to expect the reduction.

12Ross age and ID rule

12 of 24

The offer is published. The checkout step still falls to you.

Ross says eligible shoppers must notify the associate at the time of purchase. Keep an ID handy in case staff ask to verify your age or date of birth. You don’t need to explain why you qualify.

While your items are being scanned, say, “I’d like the 55+ Tuesday discount, please.” That names a real Ross program. Check the receipt before you put it away so you know the reduction appeared.

11Southwest Airlines senior fare status

11 of 24

Does Southwest have a senior discount? For airfare, Southwest’s answer is direct: “Southwest does not offer senior fares.”

There’s no qualifying birthday to enter and no senior fare day to wait for. Compare the fares offered for your route and dates instead of searching for a senior-fare selection Southwest says it doesn’t provide.

If the trip has a fixed event at the other end, a supposed senior deal won’t help you choose a flight. Date flexibility is the lever worth checking. Southwest has a tool for that, but it isn’t an age discount.

10Southwest Low Fare Calendar dates

10 of 24

If you have room to shift your trip, start with Southwest’s Low Fare Calendar. Southwest describes it as showing the lowest “as low as” fares by date for a route. Pick your route, look across dates, then review the checkout price for the flight you want.

An “as low as” listing is a starting price, not a senior fare. Keep the comparison tied to a flight you can book.

Southwest also states a 24-hour cancellation policy. Travelers who cancel within 24 hours of booking get a refund to their payment method or a flight credit. Read the policy when you book; don’t treat it as a reason to rush.

9Southwest Priority Boarding add-on price

9 of 24

Photo by Hans Dorries on Unsplash

Priority Boarding solves a boarding preference, not an age-based fare problem. Southwest lists it as an optional charge of $10 to $75 per segment. It replaced EarlyBird Check-In in 2026.

Watch the word *segment* before adding it. Review the total for the flights you’re buying rather than treating one displayed charge as the cost of the whole trip. If you don’t want the add-on, leave it off.

The checkout screen shows what Southwest is charging for your itinerary. The cited fee schedule doesn’t attach a senior discount to Priority Boarding. Paying for an option you value is a different decision from finding a lower fare.

8Uber senior account features

8 of 24

Does Uber have a senior discount? Uber’s Seniors page publishes no standing nationwide one. Instead, it describes Senior accounts, Simple mode, and Family profiles.

Those tools change the account experience; they don’t establish an age-based reduction in a ride fare. If you’re arranging rides for yourself, look at the simpler screen. If someone helps manage rides, read the Family profile details before sharing access.

For any trip, check the displayed fare before confirming. There’s no national Uber senior percentage or discount day to claim from the cited page. A paid membership is another choice, with a cost of its own.

7Uber One monthly membership cost

7 of 24

Uber One is a paid membership, not a senior rate. Uber lists it at $9.99 per month in 2026 and describes benefits that include a $0 delivery fee on eligible orders and ride-related savings.

Start with how you use the service. If you rarely request rides or delivery, another monthly charge has little appeal. If you use both, compare the current terms with your recent orders before joining.

Pay attention to *eligible* on delivery orders. A $0 delivery fee doesn’t mean the order itself is free. Check the final total before confirming a purchase. Membership gives you terms to evaluate, not a blanket reduction because of your age.

6GoGoGrandparent phone-based ride service

6 of 24

What if the obstacle is booking through an app rather than the ride price? GoGoGrandparent lets people arrange Uber or Lyft rides by phone without a smartphone.

That convenience has a cost. GoGoGrandparent describes a membership plus a per-use fee on top of the underlying ride fare. It is not a free ride service or a senior discount on Uber or Lyft.

Before enrolling, get the current membership price and per-use charge from GoGoGrandparent. Ask how the full ride is billed. Then compare that total with the value of phone booking to you. Keep this service in a different mental drawer from a coupon.

5McDonald’s local senior discount check

5 of 24

Photo by Daniel Way on Unsplash

At a drive-through window, a question about a senior discount sounds simple.

McDonald’s gives a narrower answer in its official FAQ: “Certain locations may offer a special discount for seniors.” It directs customers to contact stores directly.

That sentence promises no national age, item, amount, or day. If you’ve heard about an offer, check whether your McDonald’s has a local exception before entering the drive-through. If staff confirm one, find out what it covers.

If they don’t, let that settle it. A deal reported across town does not establish one here.

4Wendy’s senior discount status

4 of 24

Wendy’s does not publish a national senior discount or qualifying age on its offers page. Its franchising information describes a heavily franchised chain. Neither fact gives you a nationwide senior offer to request.

Look at the offers page for a promotion you can use at your chosen restaurant. If someone tells you a particular Wendy’s has a senior deal, check that location beforehand for a current exception and its terms.

There’s no national senior weekday to put on your calendar from the cited material. A published offer gives you something to verify; a story about another store does not.

3AARP membership for restaurant discounts

3 of 24

AARP membership unlocks several dining offers on this list. Its membership page advertises about $15 for the first year with automatic renewal in 2026. Check the current price and renewal terms before joining. The first-year amount isn’t the whole decision.

Now think about restaurants you already visit. Denny’s publishes 15% off for members at participating locations, capped at $10. Outback, Carrabba’s, and Bonefish publish 10% member offers on food and nonalcoholic beverages.

A membership card won’t create a national senior discount at a chain that hasn’t published one. Count only benefits you expect to use, then confirm local participation and redemption terms. If none fits your habits, the membership fee remains an expense.

2Sonic $7 Big Deal Meal

2 of 24

At Sonic, a posted meal price is easier to work with than a rumored senior offer. The $7 Big Deal Meal includes a SONIC Cheeseburger, medium drink, medium tots or fries, and a sundae.

It’s a value promotion, not an age-based offer. Sonic says the price varies with modifications and location. Check the menu for your drive-in before ordering, especially if you plan to change the bundle.

If that’s the meal you want, you can order without raising your age at all. If it isn’t, compare the regular choices. A bundle only helps when you want what’s inside it.

1A before-you-go discount decision checklist

1 of 24

Put the offer through a quick test before it goes into your plans. First, identify what it actually is: an age-based menu or day, an AARP member benefit, a paid service, or a possible local exception. The label tells you which proof matters.

Next, write down the exact location. A national menu answers a different question from a benefit limited to participating restaurants. A local exception answers only for that store. Don’t let an offer at one address stand in for another.

Then check timing and proof. Ross names Tuesday and says it can request ID. The dining benefits here call for membership details. Other offers name no senior weekday at all. Leave that space blank instead of filling it with a guess.

Last, compare what you’d actually buy. A smaller menu meal, a percentage off covered items, and a paid membership change different parts of the bill. Keep the confirmed details in a phone note: location, offer, age or membership rule, day, and proof. If a detail is missing, don’t count its savings yet.

The bottom line

A published menu, membership benefit, or Tuesday rule gives you something definite to use. A chain name alone doesn’t.

The prepared version of you has checked the exact location. You have the right ID or membership details within reach, and you know which offer applies before choosing a meal or fare.
